Meet the Visionary Behind Black Nurse Entrepreneurs: Transforming Business and Healthcare

In a groundbreaking effort to empower Black nurses and transform healthcare, Alvionna Brewster, MSN-Ed, RN, has built Black Nurse Entrepreneurs (BNE) into a thriving community of over 23,000 African American nurses. Founded in 2015, BNE stands as a testament to the power of collective ambition, innovation, and determination, reshaping what it means to be a nurse in the 21st century.

Redefining the Role of Black Nurses

BNE is more than a professional network—it’s a movement designed to unlock financial independence and professional freedom for Black nurses. By fostering entrepreneurship and collaboration, the organization equips its members to challenge traditional healthcare models, improve outcomes in underserved communities, and build generational wealth.

“BNE is more than a community—it’s a transformative experience,” said Brewster. “Our members are redefining healthcare, expanding access to critical services, and building wealth in ways that inspire and empower the next generation.”

During the pandemic, the impact of BNE’s mission became especially clear. Members launched innovative businesses that expanded access to culturally competent care, contributing to a notable reduction in morbidity and mortality rates among underserved populations.

Impact on the Black Community

BNE’s influence extends far beyond its members, creating a ripple effect of empowerment within Black communities. The organization has helped nurses launch successful 6-, 7-, and even 8-figure businesses that provide affordable, high-quality healthcare solutions.

These entrepreneurial ventures are not just reshaping healthcare delivery—they’re also transforming lives. From increasing healthcare access to creating jobs and driving economic growth, BNE nurses are building stronger communities and healthier futures.

Expanding Reach and Opportunity

As BNE continues to grow, the organization is focused on expanding its initiatives to foster deeper connections and greater impact. Among its upcoming programs:

  • In-Person Events: Relaunching face-to-face gatherings to strengthen the sense of community and collaboration.
  • Coaching Programs: Offering tailored guidance and strategies to equip Black nurses with the tools they need to succeed in business.

“These milestones are just the beginning,” Brewster shared. “We’re committed to pushing boundaries, building wealth, and inspiring the next generation of leaders who will transform healthcare and empower our communities.”

About Black Nurse Entrepreneurs

BNE is the premier organization for Black nurses seeking professional freedom, wealth-building opportunities, and improved healthcare outcomes. Through a focus on education, entrepreneurship, and empowerment, BNE has transformed the lives of thousands of nurses while addressing critical gaps in healthcare worldwide.
